The Killing

I’ve posted my thoughts about American TV here (http://xforce11.tumblr.com/post/3876883716/good-story-should-win).

Well AMC is one of the few networks who seem to do things right (Mad Men & The Walking Dead).  Tonight I watched The Killing on my DVR.  Now I’ve never seen the original series (Danish series called Forbrydelsen), so I cannot compare.  I must say that the 2 episode premier was very good.  The atmosphere (sets, costumes, and outdoor shots) was deep and rich.  I’ve never been to Seattle (or Vancouver where the show is filmed) but they convinced me I was there. The acting was good and I fell it will get better.  Mirelle Enos was interesting and I’m not sure on her yet.  Not sure if I’m perplexed at her acting or her character.  The Characters are rich and deep.  We just now we want to know more about each.  The story is well paced (more realistic).  I have high hopes that the producers can take the Forbrydelsen story lines and make them unique to the U.S. and keep them up to the quality we have come to expect from AMC.

I say again, I’m thankful for good adaptations from overseas.  Why oh why can’t American networks support quality programing originally produced here?  (I’m still looking at you Syfy.)
